Manicotti Madness

I did it!  I made my first real meal and it was kinda at the last minute.  I found a magazine at the store called Cooking for Twoand made the manicotti recipe.  I was definitely out of my comfort zone but I got into it after a few minutes.   Even though it took a little bit of time, it was well worth it and the sidekick enjoyed…which is huge.  Well, I am now tired and probably won’t try another recipe till next week.

It came to me while I was watching GMA

Yes, another cooking blog, food blog, self help blog…call it what you want, but this blog is my way to document my journey to becoming more than a meat & potatoes / open up a can / wash the dishes guy.  I want to prove to my fiance, family, and friends that this redheaded 24 yr old can make a nice meal.  I don’t mind doing the dishes…I mean who doesn’t enjoy a clean plate?  However, I want to be treated as an equal in the kitchen and be able to make as wonderful a meal as my fiance.

I wish it  could be as simple as snapping my fingers, but I understand the long journey that awaits me in becoming a master of the kitchen.  You might be wondering what my tools to get there will be.

I plan on using many sources and here are a few of them:

This is the cookbook I saw this morning on GMA that inspired me

Videos from YouTube…like this one on chopping onions

Finally, trial and error….maybe the best tool out there.

My goal is to start making one meal a week and I will do my best to document it (pictures/video)  I hope to be able to update this blog 2-3 times a week.  The Michael Schlow book doesn’t arrive for about a week (I chose free shipping on Amazon..I am cheap, I know)  so I think I might work on my chopping skills until then.

If there are any suggestions, send me a comment.

This is going to be wild…
